Cody Reese joined the Youngstown State Department of Intercollegiate Athletics as an Assistant Athletic Director for NCAA Eligibility in June 2025.
Reese’s primary responsibility at YSU is ensuring compliance in regards to NCAA academic eligibility of student-athletes’ participation in practice and competition.
Reese came to YSU after spending nearly four years at the University of Pittsburgh and four years at the University of Akron.
Reese served in two positions at Pitt from 2021-25, holding roles as an NCAA Eligibility and Certification Specialist and an Athletics Compliance Analyst. At Akron, he was a Student Enrollment Counselor, a System Analyst and a Manager of Eligibility, Certification and Compliance from 2017-21.
Before being employed in higher education, Reese was a computer and technology teacher at St. Christine School in Youngstown. He is currently the defensive coordinator at Campbell Memorial High School, and he was previously an assistant boys basketball coach at Ursuline (2012-17) and a football and basketball coach at Western Reserve (2007-11).
A native of Berlin Center, Ohio, Reese earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Kent State in 2012. He went on to earn a Master of Science in Sport Administration from Akron in 2020.
Reese and his wife, Kathy, have a daughter named London and a son named Crew. The family resides in Boardman.
