Alyce “Lycie” Borkenhagen Swinkunas joined the Youngstown State Sports Medicine family in July 2024 as a staff athletic trainer working primarily with the Penguins’ football and softball programs.
Prior to Youngstown State, Swinkunas worked at Eastern Illinois University as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer providing care for the football, softball, and tennis teams.
Swinkunas received her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in 2022. She went on to earn her Master of Science in Exercise Physiology from Eastern Illinois University in 2024. Swinkunas' professional interests include injury prevention, manual therapy, and biomechanics of sports injury. In her free time, Swinkunas enjoys baking, caring for her two pet Lizards (Zoey and Lelo), and spending time with her husband, Chris.
