Jim and Cathy married in 1964 while Jim was a student at what was then Youngstown University. In 1965, the University hired Jim as an administrative assistant in the business office and unknowingly gained a second "employee" in Cathy.
Jim moved to Athletics shortly thereafter and the rest is history. Through their almost 60 years as the Penguins Royal Family, Cathy has been the pillar that Jim leaned on and could always count on for help. Whether it was helping with cheerleaders, organizing season tickets, or supporting fundraisers, Cathy was always making time to support Jim and our Penguins, while meeting the needs of their family and of her career as a registered nurse.
Their dedication to the department led to Jim's induction into the YSU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2014.
During Jim's tenure, he has served as an Associate Athletic Director for the YSU Athletic Department. He twice served on the NCAA Division I-AA Football Selection Committee and in 1979, served as the College Athletes Business Managers Association (CABMA) President.
Jim played a key role in the development of The Penguin Club and currently serves as the Associate Athletic Director for The Penguin Club, while maintaining his membership in the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
