Katie Rogner is a three-time first-team All-Horizon League selection who has placed in the top five at the conference championships in her first three years with the program. Just a junior, she is the first golfer in school history to be named the YSU/Vindicator Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
On Sunday, Rogner tied for fourth at the Horizon League Championships with a three-round total of 233 (77-75-81). She was named first-team all-league and for her postseason efforts was named to the all-tournament team. This past season she had four top-10 finishes, highlighted by her fifth-place finish at the HL meet. For the year she averaged 80.1 strokes per 18 holes.
As a sophomore, Rogner was fifth at the league meet, carding a 242 (83-75-84) to help the Penguins win their second team title in school history. She was named to the All-Horizon League squad for her efforts during the year and was named to the all-tournament squad as well. She averaged 79.8 strokes per 18 holes and won the YSU Invitational.
Her freshman year she burst on the scene, earning medalist honors at the Horizon League Championships while being selected as the Golfer and the Newcomer of the Year. At the HL Championships, she shot an impressive 230 (78-80-72). Her round of 72 was a career best, which came after she trailed by two strokes entering the final round. For the year she posted a team-low 78.5 average per 18 holes. She also took home medalist honors at the Loyola Caputo Invitational.
For her career she has been a model of consistency and has not missed a round in three seasons. She has played in all 69 rounds and 30 tournaments while earning medalist honors four times. Her 72 during her freshman year is tied for the school record for the lowest round. That mark is the best score for a third-round performance in program history. For golfers who have spent at least three seasons with the program, she has the lowest per round average.
As a team, YSU won the Horizon League title in 2009 and placed second in 2010 and 2008.
Rogner is a graduate of Warren JFK High School where she capped a solid career her senior campaign by finishing fourth at the Division I high school championship.
She is a the daughter of Lisa and Jeff Rogner. She owns a 3.14 grade-point average majoring in Industrial and Systems Engineering.
