Danylo Veremeichuk | 2018-19 Male Athlete of the Year

Career Notes: Two-time First-Team All-Horizon League selection and three-time all-conference honoree...two-time Academic All-Horizon League honoree...posted a career record of 57-26 in just two-and-a-half years with the program...in doubles play, posted a career record of 52-22...ranks second in school history in doubles wins and fourth in school history in singles wins...had a 4-1 record in YSU's Horizon League Tournament matches...Penguins advanced to the semifinals in three straight seasons and won 15 league matches in three years...YSU had won 20 matches in the previous 12 years before his arrival.
 
2018-19 (Senior): First-team All-Horizon League selection...Academic All-Horizon League honoree...posted a 22-11 record for the season and went 12-7 in dual matches...played all 19 dual matches at No. 1 singles...finished with a 10-4 mark in the fall tournament portion of the season...in HL play, was an impressive 5-1 with the lone loss a three-set defeat to the conference player of the year...at the HL Tournament picked up a 7-6, 7-6 win vs. UIC...won his final five singles matches of career...played 13 three-set matches...in doubles play, was 21-10 for the season and 12-7 in dual matches...went 4-1 against Horizon League foes playing alongside Joao Garretto...went 11-7 at No. 1 doubles...earned his third letter.
 
2017-18 (Junior): First-Team All-Horizon League selection...Academic All-Horizon League selection...posted a 22-12 record for the season and went 12-9 in dual matches...posted a 10-3 record in the fall tournament portion of the season...in league play, had wins against Northern Kentucky and UIC...earned a win in the Horizon League Tournament against Wright State (6-3, 7-6)...dropped a hard-fought three set clash to Cleveland State's Nico Mostardi in the HL semifinals (1-6, 7-6, 6-3)...at one point during the season won five straight matches and seven of eight...played 14 three-set matches...played in the No. 1 spot for the final 10 matches and 11 times during the year...in doubles play was 21-9 for the season and 15-5 in dual matches...posted a 5-2 mark in doubles play in league tilts alongside Yossi Dahan...was 7-3 at No. 2 doubles, 5-1 at No. 1 doubles and 3-1 at No. 3 doubles...went 9-4 with Dahan and 11-5 with Garretto...earned his second letter.
 
2017 (Sophomore): Second-Team All-Horizon League selection...posted a 13-3 record in dual match play and was 5-2 in Horizon League play...had wins in the HL Championships against Northern Kentucky and Valparaiso...ended the year on a five-match winning streak and won eight of nine to close out the campaign...was an impressive 8-1 at No. 2 in the singles lineup...won 10 of his final 11 sets of the season...won first four contests of the season after joining the lineup on Feb. 24...played four three-set matches...picked up an impressive three-set non-league win at Marquette...was 8-0 in road matches...went 10-5 in doubles, including 4-2 in Horizon League matches...played 15 doubles matches with Garretto and two with Gabriel Tolesani...teamed up with Garretto to win six of final seven matches of the year...for the year the duo went 10-3...earned his first letter.
