Chad Zallow | YSU Male Athlete of the Year


Chad Zallow has earned four NCAA All-America awards in his three years as a member of the YSU men's track and field squad. In indoor track, he is a two-time first-team All-American as well as a second-team honoree. In outdoor track, he was a second-team All-American in 2017 with this year's meet slated for June. So far, he has won 10 Horizon League individual races with eight coming on the indoor circuit.
 
2018 Indoor (Junior): First-team All-American...finished fifth in the 60m hurdles at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships with a time of 7.72 seconds...won the 60m hurdles seven times during the year...won the 60m dash, 60m hurdles and 200m dash at the HL Championships...set the school record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.65 seconds at the YSU Icebreaker...finished fourth at the NYRR Millrose Games against professional runners...selected as the Horizon League Alfreeda Goff Athlete of the Year.
 
2017 Outdoor (Sophomore): Second-team All-American...finished ninth in the 110m hurdles at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a time of 13.58 seconds...won both heats at NCAA East Preliminary Round to advance to NCAA semifinals...won Horizon League Championship in the 110m hurdles and 100m dash...Florida Relays Percy Beard Award Winner...named the Horizon League's Championships Outstanding Running Performer...selected as the Horizon League Alfreeda Goff Athlete of the Year.
 
2017 Indoor (Sophomore): First-team All-American...finished third in the 60m hurdles at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships with a time of 7.72 seconds...won the Horizon League Championship in the 60m, 60m dash and the 200m dash... Dr. Philip Edwards Award as the outstanding male competitor at the Armory Track Invitational...named the Horizon League's Championships Outstanding Running Performer...selected as the Horizon League Alfreeda Goff Athlete of the Year.
 
2016 Outdoor (Freshman): Finished second in the 110m hurdles at the Horizon League Championships with a time of 14.82 seconds...at the NCAA East Preliminary Round was 38th in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.42 seconds...became the first Penguin to run under 14 seconds in the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.92 seconds on April 1 at the Florida Relays...broke a school record that had stood for 23 years...in June, advanced to the finals in the 110m hurdles at the USATF Junior Olympic Trails.
 
2016 Indoor (Freshman): Second-team All-American...finished ninth at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships with a time of 7.67 seconds...just missed advancing to the finals by .006 seconds...named the Alfreeda Goff Horizon League Athlete of the Year...at the Horizon League Championships took first in the 60m dash and the 60m hurdles.
 
Personal: Parents are Chuck and Colleen...majoring in finance...is a 2017-18 recipient of a Penguin Club Athletic Scholarship.
