While the Youngstown State women’s basketball program has played in multiple postseason tournaments, its success off the court is remarkable. Fourteen times in the last 15 years and in 11 consecutive seasons, the Penguins have posted one of the 25 best grade-point averages in the country. In seven of the last 10 years, they’ve been in the top 10.

The Penguins reached a new height in 2023-24 when they posted the best GPA in the country with a 3.868. YSU was second in 2019-20 and 2020-21, and it was third in 2015-16 and 2024-25.

Youngstown State made its debut on the prestigious list in 2010-11, no other program in the nation has appeared on the prestigious list 14 times since then.
