2012 (Freshman): Competed in all five events...at the Horizon League Championship was 56th with a time of 29:26...ran a time of 31:24 at the season-opening Duquesne Duals...was 38th at the Tommy Evans Invitational...posted a time of 28:21 at the Notre Dame Invitational...at the NCAA Pre-Nationals meet ran a time of 28:50.4...earned his first letter.

High School: Lettered in Cross Country and Track all four years...events were the 800/1,600-meter runs.

Personal: Parents are Sam and Callie Sowards...has two brothers and a sister...majoring in Physics.
