Women’s Golf Posts Nation’s No. 8 GPA, Makes Fourth Straight Appearance on WGCA Academic Top 25

FRISCO, Texas – The Youngstown State women's golf team ranked No. 8 on the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Academic Top 25 when the organization announced the Division I programs with the highest team GPAs for the 2025-26 season on Thursday.
The Penguins ranked eighth among the nation's top 25 teams in Division I with a team GPA of 3.903 in 2025-26. YSU finished in the top 25 for the fourth consecutive season after ranking No. 17 in 2024-25, No. 7 in 2023-24 and No. 4 in 2022-23. Youngstown State was the only Horizon League member to be represented on the WGCA's Academic Top 25.
Houston Chrisitan University was awarded the 2025-26 WGCA All-Scholar Team GPA Award at Division I for having the highest team GPA in the nation at 3.947. The WGCA All-Scholar Team GPA Awards recognize the women's collegiate golf programs with the highest collective average team GPA which includes all the team's student-athletes for the 2025-26 season.
Earlier this month, five Penguins were recognized as WGCA All-American Scholars for their impressive work in the classroom in 2025-26. Neeranuch Prajunpanich earned the honor for the third straight season while Sofia Perez Escarcena and Maddi Shoults were recognized for the second consecutive campaign. In addition, Valentina Peña Anaya and Bella Saur each garnered the distinction for the first time. YSU has now had at least two golfers earn the honor in 13 straight seasons.
