The Youngstown State women's tennis program was named an All-Academic Team while five student-athletes were tabbed Scholar-Athletes by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, the organization announced.
The Penguins who were named Scholar-Athletes include Sarah Partida Garcia, Yeseniia Ovcharova, Lorena Cedeno, Line Greyling and Diane Partida.
Within the sport of tennis, student-athletes continue to exceed expectations in the classroom and on the court. In 2026, 1,501 Division I Women's student-athletes were named ITA Scholar-Athletes, and 231 Women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letterwinners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2025 and spring 2026).
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letterwinner, 2.) have a grade-point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters (including freshman through senior year).
