The Youngstown State women's tennis team had three All-Horizon League selections, the conference announced Thursday.
Junior Hanna Telzynska was named to the All-League First Team, while juniors Lorena Cedeno and Yeseniia Ovcharova earned All-League Second Team honors.
Sophomore Lydia Foster was named a co-recipient of the Herb Foster Sportsmanship Award. Foster shared the award with Milwaukee's Honoka Yamashita.
Telzynska's first-team selection extends the program's streak of having at least one player earn first-team recognition to four consecutive years. In her debut season with the Penguins, she leads the team with 18 singles wins, all coming at the No. 1 position. Her 10 victories at No. 1 doubles are tied for the team high. She also earned three Under Armour #HLTennis Women's Singles Players of the Week, along with three Doubles Teams of the Week recognition during the spring.
Cedeno and Ovcharova earn their second career All-League Second Team selection, becoming the first Penguins to do so in back-to-back seasons since Annina Brendel in 2014-15 and 2015-16. Cedeno led the team with 16 double victories and posted a 3-0 conference record. She also paced the team at No. 2 singles with a 10-8 overall mark.
Ovcharova recorded a perfect 5-0 singles record in conference play and ranks second on the team with 17 overall singles victories. She also set a career high with 10 doubles wins.
Foster joins Brendel (2016) and Maria Oliveira (2024) as Penguins who received the Herb Foster Sportsmanship Award.
The Penguins begin their defense of the Horizon League postseason championship Friday in a quarterfinal match against No. 6-seeded Northern Kentucky. First serve is set for 3 p.m. at the Linder Family Tennis Center.
