For the second consecutive year, the Youngstown State men's tennis team had three All-Horizon League selections, the conference announced Thursday.
Senior Alexis Maulouet and sophomore Dominik Vonbank were named to the All-League First Team. This marks the first time since the 2021-22 season that multiple Penguins have earned first-team honors.
Freshman Rafael Le Fur was named to the All-League Second Team, while freshman Malo Vernejoul was a finalist for the Herb Foster Sportsmanship Award.
This spring, Maulouet was named the Under Armour #HLTennis Men's Singles Player of the Week twice and posted a 3-2 record in league play, all at the No. 1 position. He competed at No. 1 doubles throughout January and, after returning to the lineup, picked up where he left off in April, closing the regular season with back-to-back doubles wins at the top spot in conference play.
Vonbank is tied for the team high in doubles victories, with 16, most of which came while paired with Matteo Ceradelli at the No. 1 position. In his debut season with the Penguins, Vonbank posted a 4-1 conference record in singles and totaled 18 overall victories. He also recorded a team-best 6-3 mark at No. 2 singles.
In his freshman campaign, Le Fur posted a 5-1 league record and collected 18 singles victories. His 16 doubles wins came at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, tying Vonbank for the team high.
The Penguins return to action Saturday to open postseason play. Their semifinal matchup against the winner of No. 2-seeded Tennessee State and No. 3-seeded IU Indy is scheduled for 11 a.m.
