Erie, Pa. – The Youngstown State men's tennis team picked up a 4-0 win over Mercyhurst on Friday night at the Westwood Racquet Club.
In doubles play, YSU won all three matches before claiming the first three completed singles contests to earn the sweep in the late-night affair.
At No. 1 doubles, Alexis Maulouet and Rafael Le Fur won 6-4. At No. 2, Matteo Ceradelli and Dominik Vonbank won 6-3. Takamasa Mishiro and Alex Woiten cruised to a 6-1 victory at No. 3.
Vonbank moved up to No. 1 singles and rallied for a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory. At No. 3, Malo Vernejoul collected a 6-2, 6-1 win and at No. 4, Oscar Gippet picked up a 6-4, 6-3 victory.
The Lakers led at No. 5 and No. 6 singles while the contest at No. 2 singles featuring Le Fur was tied at a set apiece.
The Penguins are back in action tomorrow when they play host to Duquesne. First serve at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center is set for 2 p.m. following the women's match against the Dukes.
