The Youngstown State men's tennis team returns to action with a pair of contests against Pennsylvania foes on Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, the Guins visit Mercyhurst for a 6:30 p.m. first serve at the Westwood Racquet Club in Erie, Pa. On Saturday, the Penguins play host to Duquesne at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center. First serve is set for 2 p.m. following the YSU-Dukes women's contest which begins at 10 a.m.
The Penguins have won four straight and a 5-1 on the campaign following a win at Toledo last Friday. YSU is 3-0 at home this year and has won its last four contests. A pair of wins eclipses last year's impressive start of 6-1.
The Lakers are 0-2 entering a Friday match at Cleveland State while the Dukes are 2-3 entering a Friday contest against Niagara.
Alexis Maulouet is the reigning Horizon League Singles Player of the Week following his win at No. 1 singles against Toledo.
This spring, Oscar Gippet is 5-0, Malo Vernejoul is 4-2 while Rafael Le Fur, Alex Woiten and Maulouet is 3-1.
YSU defeated the Lakers 5-2 last year and is making its first trip to Erie since April 1987. The Penguins have won the last three contests against Duquesne, including a 7-0 win last year.
