Toledo, Ohio – The Youngstown State men's tennis team defeated Toledo 4-3 on Friday afternoon at the Shadow Valley Tennis Club. It was YSU's first dual win at Toledo since Jan. 20, 1998.
The Guins (4-1) have now won four straight matches while Toledo drops to 3-6.
In doubles, YSU dropped a 6-0 match at No. 3 before battling back to win the key point. At No. 2, Dominik Vonbank and Matteo Ceradelli picked up a 6-4 win. In a marathon match at No. 1, Alexis Mauoluet and Rafael Le Fur picked up a 7-6 (3) victory.
In singles, five of the six matches went three sets.
At No. 1, Maulouet rallied for a 1-6, 6-0, 7-5 win and at No. 6, Oscar Gippet won by a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 margin. The clincher was at No. 5 as Malo Vernejoul rallied for a 3-6, 7-5, 7-5 victory
The Bulls won in three sets at No. 3 and No. 4 as Vonbank won his first set while Le Fur won his second set.
The Penguins are back in action next Friday when they visit Mercyhurst.
