After a record-breaking performance at the Arturo Barrios Invitational, McKinley Fielding was named the Under Armour #HLXC Women's Runner of the Week, the Horizon League announced Tuesday.
Fielding set a new program record in the 6K with a time of 20:07.6, finishing 30th overall at the Arturo Barrios Invitational on Oct. 16 at Watts Cross Country Course.
Her time improved her previous school record of 20:10.9, set at the 2025 Horizon League Cross Country Championships, by 3.3 seconds. Fielding first set the program's 6K record at the 2024 Texas A&M meet and has since broken her own record twice.
For the second consecutive race this season, Fielding led the Penguins' women's team to a program-best team finish. Her 30th-place finish in a field of 387 runners helped Youngstown State secure an 11th-place finish among 46 teams with 409 points, marking the best finish in program history at the meet.
The honor marks the fourth of Fielding's career and her second consecutive recognition this season. She previously earned the award following her performance in the Blue Race at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational on Oct. 2.
Fielding returns to action at the Horizon League Cross Country Championships on Oct. 31, where she will look to become the first YSU women's runner to win consecutive individual titles and help the Penguins defend their Horizon League championship.
