The Youngstown State men's tennis team won for the third time in four duals to open the year beating Carnegie Mellon on Friday night at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
The Penguins (3-1) won all three doubles matches and picked up four singles victories in the match with the Tartans.
In doubles, YSU won 6-2 at No. 1, 6-3 at No. 2 and 6-2 at No. 3.
In singles, Dominik Vonbank, Rafael Le Fur, Malo Vernejoul and Oscar Gippet. At No. 2, Vonbank collected a 6-4, 6-0 win. At No. 3, Le Fur was a 6-1, 6-4 winner. At No. 4 Vernejoul rallied to win in three sets, 6-7 (7), 6-2, 10-6. At No. 5, Gippet cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win.
YSU returns to action next Saturday when it plays host to St. Bonaventure. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
