Chicago, Ill. – The Youngstown State men's tennis team opened the spring dual season with an impressive 4-3 come-from-behind win over UIC on Saturday at the XS Tennis Village.
After dropping the doubles point, the Penguins won four singles matches to douse the Flames.
Winning singles matches were Alexis Maulouet (No. 1), Rafael Le Fur (No. 4), Oscar Gippet (No. 5) and Alex Woiten (No. 6).
The Flames picked up the doubles point with wins at all three matches.
In singles, Maulouet won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1, Le Fur won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4, Gippet won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 5 and Woiten won in three sets at No. 6 to clinch the victory.
The Flames won at No. 2 and No. 3 in three-set contests.
The Penguins conclude their trip to Chicago on Sunday night when they face Northwestern. First serve against the Wildcats is set for 8 pm Eastern time.
