Penguins Rank No. 17 on 2024-25 WGCA Academic Top 25

Coral Springs, Fla. -- The Youngstown State women's golf team ranked No. 17 on the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Academic Top 25 when the organization announced the Division I programs with the highest team GPAs for the 2024-25 season on Wednesday.
The Penguins ranked 17th among the nation's top 25 teams in Division I with a team GPA of 3.878. YSU finished in the top 25 for the third consecutive season after recording the nation's seventh-highest team GPA in 2023-24. The Guins also earned the fourth-highest team GPA in the country in 2022-23.
Ball State was awarded the 2024-25 WGCA All-Scholar Team GPA Award for having the highest team GPA in the nation at 3.968.
The WGCA All-Scholar Team GPA Awards recognize the women's collegiate golf programs with the highest collective average team GPA which includes all the team's student-athletes for the 2024-25 season. Youngstown State joined Green Bay as one of the two Horizon League programs to appear on the WGCA's Top 25 list.
Earlier this month, four Penguins were recognized as WGCA All-American Scholars for their impressive work in the classroom in 2024-25. Senior Lizzie Saur received the honor for the fourth consecutive season while sophomore Neeranuch Prajunpanich was recognized for the second straight campaign. Maddi Shoults and Sofia Perez Escarcena were each honored for the first time in their career. YSU has now had at least two golfers earn the honor in 12 straight seasons.
