Women’s Basketball to Play at Wright State in First Round on Tuesday

Youngstown, Ohio — Youngstown State's women's basketball team will be the eighth seed in the 2025 Barbasol Horizon League Women's Basketball Championship, and it will play at Wright State in the first round on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.

The Penguins and Raiders both posted a 7-13 record in conference play, but Wright State won the tiebreaker by beating YSU twice during the regular season.

The game from the Nutter Center will be broadcast on 570 WKBN and ESPN+., and it will be part of a doubleheader with Wright State's men's team. YSU will play the Raiders in the conference tournament for the first time since 2015-16, and it will play at the Nutter Center in the postseason for the first time since 2009-10.

Green Bay is the tournament's top seed after beating Purdue Fort Wayne in overtime on Saturday in a battle for the regular-season championship. Those two teams, as well as third-seeded Cleveland State and fourth-seeded Robert Morris, have earned a bye to the quarterfinals and will host a game on Thursday.

Northern Kentucky got the final bye as the fifth seed, and it will play at RMU. The Norse were 8-12 in league play, just one game ahead of the Penguins.

In the other two first-round games on Tuesday, sixth-seeded Detroit Mercy will host 11th-seeded Milwaukee, and No. 7 IU Indy will welcome No. 10 Oakland. The lowest-seeded winner on Tuesday will travel to Green Bay for the quarterfinals.
