YSU Women’s Golf Records Nation’s Seventh-Highest GPA in 2023-24

Coral Springs, Fla. - The Youngstown State women's golf team posted the seventh-highest Division I team GPA in the nation during the 2023-24 academic year, the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) announced on Tuesday.
The Penguins posted the seventh-highest Division I team GPA in the country with a mark of 3.873. YSU finished in the top 10 for the second consecutive season after recording the nation's fourth-highest team GPA in 2022-23. North Dakota State was awarded the 2023-24 WGCA All-Scholar Team GPA Award for having the highest team GPA in the nation at 3.945.
The WGCA All-Scholar Team GPA Awards recognize the women's collegiate golf programs with the highest collective average team GPA which includes all the team's student-athletes for the 2023-24 season. Youngstown State was the only Horizon League program to appear on the WGCA's Top-25 list.
Earlier this month, seven Penguins were recognized as WGCA All-American Scholars for their impressive work in the classroom in 2023-24. Danae Rugola received the honor for the fifth consecutive season while Madie Smithco and Lizzie Saur were each recognized for the third straight campaign. Titita Loudtragulngam earned the award for the second consecutive season while Chaela Barnett, Neeranuch Prajunpanich and Adena Rugola were each honored for the first time in their career. The program has now had at least two golfers earn the honor in 11 straight seasons.
The YSU women's golf program was also honored with the Horizon League Raise Your Sights award at the conference level for the 2023-24 academic year. The Raise Your Sights awards are given annually to the best sport teams academically and is based on combined grade point average (GPA) from the current academic year. The award recognizes the top academic male and female team from each Horizon League institution.
