Former Youngstown State men's basketball players Ziggy Reid and Brandon Rush have signed professional contracts to continue their playing careers overseas.
Reid signed with the Oberwart Gunners in Austria while Rush inked a deal with BC Komarno in Slovakia.
In his lone season with Youngstown State, Reid was named All-Horizon League Second Team after leading the Penguins with 14.5 points per game, 4.9 rebounds and shooting 45.6 percent from the field. He scored in double figures in 24 games and recorded six games of at least 20 points.
Rush, one of the program's top 3-point shooters, ended his career with 151 3-pointers made which rank eighth on the all-time list. In 2023-24, Rush averaged 11.7 points per game and connected on 74 3-pointers. He became just the second player in program history to make at least 10 3s in a game after hitting 10 against Ohio Christian on Nov. 13, 2023.
Rush was named All-Horizon League Third Team in 2022-23 and helped guide the Penguins to the program's first regular-season championship. He averaged 13.9 points per game and shooting 47.8 percent from the floor (173-of-362) and 37.9 percent from 3-point range (77-of-203).Â
