YSU Football Alumni Golf Outing Features Large Turnout; Great Vibes

The Youngstown State Football Alumni/Ned Mervos Golf outing was another spectacular event as 116 golfers were treated to a great time at the Youngstown Country Club on Friday afternoon. The group battled rain for the first few hours before skies cleared for the rest of the fun-filled event.
Taking first place in the outing was the foursome of Tom Orosz, Tom Meola, John Nevotne and Jimmy Rodenberg with a round of 60.
YSU President Bill Johnson spoke with the group prior to the start of the event, thanking them for their continued support and discussing the high-standing tradition that the University maintains and strives for.
Special thanks to the Giannios and Kaydo families for sponsoring food throughout the day. Special appreciation to Johnny Johnson for donating cigars for all to enjoy. Additional thanks to the tee sign sponsors and all who donated an incredible amount of auction items.
Winning hole prizes were:
- Jim Jones with longest putt on No. 5
- Tim Dewberry with longest drive on No. 10
- Ray Briya with longest putt on No. 13
- Mike Hripko with closest to the pin on No. 16
