Penguins Finish Second at Horizon League Women's Golf Championships

Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla. - The Youngstown State women's golf team finished second at the 2024 Horizon League Golf Championships which concluded on Monday at the Mission Inn Resort's El Campeon Golf Course.
It marks the seventh time in program history the Penguins have been the runner-up at the HL Championships, the most recent time coming in 2017.
YSU finished with a three-round total of 954 while Oakland carded a total of 930 for the team victory. Finishing third was Green Bay (960) while IUPUI was fourth (967). The Golden Grizzlies won their third overall title and have now won two of the last three team crowns.
YSU carded a final round 324 on Monday after posting scores of 318 and 312 earlier in the tournament.
On the individual leaderboard, Youngstown State placed four golfers in the top 16.
Freshman Neeranuch Prajunpanich finished in second place (231), Lizzie Saur came in eighth (237), Titita Loudtragulngam was 14th (242) and Danae Rugola finished 16th (246). Adena Rugola placed 23rd (249) in her Horizon League Championships debut.
Prajunpanich was in contention for medalist honors throughout the event during her HL debut. On Monday, she carded a 79 which included nine pars and three birdies. She made birdies at Nos. 4, 7 and 12. She was even par after four holes and just one over after 12. She pared four of her last five holes. Oakland's Bridget Boczar won the tournament with a 227.
Saur, whose previous best finish at the HL Championships was 34th, had an impressive eighth-place effort. On Monday, she was an even-par 36 on the front side. Sitting at two-over for her round, she birdied No. 7 and No. 8. On the back nine she had a birdie two at No. 12 and was at two-over par after 15 holes. It was the eighth top-10 finish of the season for Saur.
Loudtragulngam had a personal Horizon League-best by finishing 14th overall. She shot an 81 for the second consecutive round on Monday. Loudtragulngam had four birdies on the day, three of which came on the back nine. For her round she birdied No. 2, No. 11, No. 14 and No. 16. Her previous best finish was 17th last year.
Danae Rugola finished with a final-round score of 83 on Monday. Rugola's round was highlighted by a birdie four on the par-5 14th hole. It was the second top-20 finish at the Horizon League Championships in her career. Adena Rugola finished with an 86 after carding rounds of 83 and 80 earlier in the tournament. She had nine pars during her round.
