Penguins Place School-Record 189 Student-Athletes on Horizon League Honor Roll

Youngstown State placed a school-record 189 student-athletes on the fall 2023 semester Horizon League Honor Roll the conference announced on Friday.
An impressive total of 1,379 student-athletes from all 17 full and affiliate member institutions and 19 Horizon League sponsored sports were represented.
YSU led the way with nearly 200 student-athletes while Oakland was second with 165 and Milwaukee was third at 151. All 11 full-membership schools had more than 70 student-athletes earn Honor Roll distinction.
Candidates for the Honor Roll must meet three criteria in order to qualify: 1) Participation in at least one of the League's 19 sports during the most recent (or current) season. 2) Completion of three semesters (or four quarters, where applicable) as a full-time student at the same member institution. 3) A cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale). With 187 student-athletes on the honor roll, Women's cross country/track & field had the highest representation of the League's sports. Women's soccer and men's cross country/track & field round out the top-three with 185 and 143 honorees, respectively.
