The Youngstown State men's basketball team (13-5, 5-2 Horizon League) goes for its fourth straight win when it visits Horizon League co-leader Oakland on Wednesday, Jan. 17. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at OU Credit Union O'Rena in Rochester, Mich. The game will be broadcast on 570 WKBN and ESPN+.

Scouting Oakland
Oakland enters the game with an 11-8 overall record and a 6-2 mark in the Horizon League.  The Golden Grizzlies, who have won five straight games, are led by Trey Townsend with 17.1 points per game and Blake Lampman with 12.3 points per contest. The Golden Grizzlies are averaging 74.8 points per game and allowing 74.3 points per contest.

Series vs. Oakland
This is the 35th meeting between Youngstown State and Oakland in a series that dates back to 1999. Oakland (11-8, 6-2 HL) owns a 22-12 advantage in the all-time series and snapped a three-game losing streak to the Penguins earlier this year. In the first meeting this season, the Golden Grizzlies, who have won five straight, defeated the Penguins 88-81 at Beeghly Center on Dec. 31. Youngstown State has won just three times in Rochester, Mich.

A win over Oakland will mark the second straight year Youngstown State began the season 14-5 after 19 games.  It would mark the just the third time since 1981-82 that YSU started a season with 14 wins after 19 contests. 

Dynes Denying
Freshman Gabe Dynes has been a tremendous rim protector this season for the Penguins. Dynes, who set a career-high with six blocks against Wright State on Jan. 12, tied the YSU freshman record with 39 blocks overall. His next block will break the record. Dynes currently ranks tied for seventh on the YSU single-season blocks list. He leads the Horizon League in total blocks and 2.2 blocks per game overall. Dynes is also averaging 3.1 blocks per game in league play.
