The Youngstown State men's and women's track and field programs had eight student-athletes named to the Valeo Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field All-Academic Team.
Earning honors were Olivia Jones, Jahniya Bowers, Morgan Cole, Nia Williams-Matthews, Zach Gray, Wyatt Lefker, Ryan Meadows and Dominic Perry.
For the men, Perry is now a three-time honoree while Gray is a two-time academic all-league recipient. For the women, Cole and Jones were named to the team for the third consecutive year.
Bowers, Lefker and Perry all recently competed at the NCAA East Prelims in Florida. All had tremendous finishes as Lefker was 14th (pole vault), Bowers was 16th (100m) and Perry was 18th (shot put).
The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team's overall contests.
