
YSU Selected For Return Trip to Michigan For NCAA Regionals

The Youngstown State women's tennis team was selected to open play in the 2023 NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament at No. 5 seed Michigan on Friday afternoon. Yesterday, YSU claimed its seventh Horizon League postseason title on the Wolverines' home court.
YSU will take an 11-8 overall record and nine-match winning streak in the contest at U-M. Michigan enters the postseason with a 22-3 overall record and won the Big Ten Tournament title at Purdue yesterday. The Wolverines have won 11 straight and posted an 11-0 record during the Big Ten season.
The other two teams to join the Guins and U-M in the bracket are Notre Dame (15-10) and Ball State (22-3). The Irish received an at-large bid from the ACC while Ball State defeated Toledo in the Mid-American Conference final yesterday to qualify for the postseason.
The Penguins advanced to the regionals with a thrilling 4-3 victory over Cleveland State on Sunday at Michigan's Varsity Tennis Center. This is YSU's seventh all-time trip to an NCAA Regional and marks their second NCAA trip to Michigan (2017).
The first match will feature Ball State and Notre Dame at 11 a.m. with YSU and Michigan set to follow at 2 p.m. Admission for all matches is free.
