Penguins Drop Contest to Belmont in Horizon League Semifinals

Ann Arbor, Mich. - The Youngstown State men's tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision to Belmont in the semifinals of the Horizon League Championships which were played at Michigan's Varsity Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Penguins close out the season with 13-11 record while Belmont advances to the finals.
The Bruins took the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3 both of which came by 6-1 margins.
In singles, the Guins laid it all on the line forcing three three-set contests.
Picking up a win for YSU was Javi Gonzalez Pla at No. 5 singles. Pla won his contest 6-1, 7-6 (4) to put the Penguins on the board after the Bruins claimed straight set victories at No. 1 and No. 6 singles.
The Bruins advanced to the finals with a clinching point at No. 3 singles. YSU's Nathan Favier won his first set 6-3, before dropping the next two sets, 6-4, 6-3.
At No. 2, Clement Mainguy lost his first set, 6-0 before battling back to win the second 7-6 (4). He was trailing just 2-1 in the third set when the match was concluded. At No. 4, Harry Fouzas won his first set 7-5 before dropping the second, 6-1. He was trailing 4-1 in the third.
