
Clark and Wang Named to Horizon League All-Academic Team

Hailey Clark and Macy Wang of the Youngstown State women's swimming and diving program were named to the 2023 Valeo #HLSD All-Academic Team, the Horizon League announced Thursday.
A total of 16 student-athletes across the league's women's swimming and diving programs were awarded this honor. An additional six earned Honorable Mention honors. Faculty Athletic Representatives from member institutions voted for these awards.
Clark, a sophomore, owns a 3.78 G.P.A in Communications. She finished top five in the women's 1650 freestyle at the Horizon League Championships, swimming a time of personal-best time of 17:02.70 She also placed seventh in the women's 200 breaststroke at the conference meet championships with a time of 2:23.39. In addition, she won the consolation final of the 500 freestyle with a personal-record time of 4:58.44 at the Horizon League Championships.
Wang, a sophomore, owns a 3.84 G.P.A. in Nursing. She finished eighth in the women's 400 IM at the Horizon League Championships, clocking a 4:33.79. She rounded out the top 10 in the women's 200 breaststroke with a personal-best time of 2:23.46 and placed 13th in the women's 200 IM with a time of 2:07.98 at the Horizon League Championships. In addition. Wang earned three top-10 finishes at the Butler Invitational: 100 breaststroke, 200 IM, and 200 freestyle.
The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team's overall contests.
