Youngstown State returns home to host Milwaukee in a first-place Horizon League clash, Thursday, Feb. 16. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. at Beeghly Center and the game will be broadcast on 570 WKBN and ESPN+.

Last Time Out
The Penguins are coming off an 81-78 loss at Cleveland State on Feb. 12 in Cleveland, Ohio. Brandon Rush led the Penguins with 20 points while Dwayne Cohill scored 17 points. Adrian Nelson posted a double-double with 12 points and 19 rebounds, and Malek Green added 10 points.
The Milwaukee Series
This is the 52nd meeting between Youngstown State and Milwaukee in a series that dates back to 1972. Milwaukee leads the all-time series, 33-18, but the Penguins have won six of the last eight contests. Earlier this season, Milwaukee defeated the Penguins, 88-75, on Jan. 21 in Milwaukee The Penguins swept the season series last year with an 86- 72 win at Beeghly Center and a 70-68 victory in Milwaukee.
Last Time vs. Milwaukee
Four Penguins scored in double figures but Milwaukee hit 12 3-pointers to defeat Youngstown State, 88-75, on Jan. 21 at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. Brandon Rush led the Penguins with 19 points while Malek Green recorded his fifth double-double of the year with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Dwayne Cohill had 16 points and seven rebounds while Adrian Nelson posted 13 point. Milwaukee shot 10-for-19 from 3-point range in the first half and five different players connected on from distance.

Nearing Wins Record
Youngstown State needs just one more win to set the school Division I record for wins with 21. The last time Youngstown State won 20 games was in 1997-98, but two of those victories came in the Mid-Continent Conference Tournament. The last time YSU won at least 21 games was in 1976-77.
AD Nearing 1,000-1,000 Club
Graduate student Adrian Nelson is approaching a very special club. Nelson is approaching 1,000-point and 1,000-rebound plateaus for his college career. He has 997 career rebounds and 982 career points and needs just three more boards and 18 more points to reach each feat.
Cohill Four From 1,000 at YSU
Senior Dwayne Cohill eclipsed an historic career-scoring milestone against IUPUI on Jan. 7. Cohill scored 13 points to surpass the 1,000-point scoring plateau and now has 1,187 career points. He also 996 points at YSU needs just four more to become the 42nd player in YSU history to reach 1,000 points as a Penguin.
200 3's
Youngstown State has made 222 3-pointers this season to reach 200 3s made for the 12th consecutive full season. The Penguins also made 186 in the COVID-shortened 2020-21 season. The streak started in 2010-11 when the Penguins made 235 3-pointers.Â
Best Horizon League Start
Youngstown State is off to its best start in Horizon League play with its 12-4 league mark. Â This is the second straight year and second time in program history Youngstown State has won at least 12 conference games.Â
Hot Start
Youngstown State is off to the best start in its Division I history. The Penguins' 20-7 Â record marks the first time since joining the Division I ranks in 1981-82 that the Penguins have won 20 of their first 27 games. The last time YSU won at least 20 times through 27 games was in 1976-77. YSU went 21-6 that year.
Beeghly Center 50th Anniversary
The 2022-23 season is the 50th anniversary of the Beeghly Center serving as the home venue of the Youngstown State men's basketball program. Since 1972-73, the Penguins have won 423 games in the Beeghly Center. Recently, the Penguins have been tough to beat on their home floor. Since the beginning of the 2019-20 season, the Penguins have won 47 game at the Beeghly Center.
