Penguins Face Challenging 20-Match Slate This Spring

The Youngstown State women's tennis teams will play a challenging 20-match dual schedule this spring that will include trips to eight different states and have the Guins in action at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center on eight occasions.
The Penguins play a full slate of challenging matches before starting league play in late March.
YSU opens the spring season its first three matches being played at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center. The Guins play host to Niagara on Jan. 21 before entertaining Butler on Jan. 26 and Georgetown on Jan. 28.
YSU then makes its annual trip to Las Vegas to face Pacific, Weber State and UNLV in a three-day event hosted by the Rebels from Feb. 2-4.
YSU will then face five straight Mid-American Conference foes from Feb. 9-Feb. 25,
Youngstown State's MAC stretch starts at Buffalo on Feb. 9 and then features a home contest vs. Bowling Green on Feb. 11. YSU visits Ball State on Feb. 16 before hosting Western Michigan on Feb. 23 and visiting Toledo on Feb. 25,
To start March, the Penguins venture out to California for a pair of matches. YSU plays dual contests against CSUN (March 7) and Fullerton (March 8) during its trip out west.
The final non-league contest of the season is set for March 16 vs. Duquesne.
YSU plays just two of its six Horizon League contests at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center, after playing five of six at home last year.
The Guins open Horizon League play with three straight road matches – at Cleveland State, at Chicago State and at Milwaukee. YSU's lone Horizon League home contests are April 13 against Northern Kentucky and April 14 vs. IUPUI. The Penguins close out the regular season with an April 21 trip to Oakland.
The Horizon League Championships are set for April 26-28 in West Lafayette, Ind, at Purdue's Schwartz Tennis Center. This is the first time the tournament will be played at Purdue since 2021.
The Penguins have won the last two conference titles in thrilling 4-3 decisions. YSU beat Cleveland State 4-3 in 2023 and defeated Milwaukee 4-3 in 2022. Both of those contests were at Michigan.
