Penguins Tabbed Preseason HL Indoor Track and Field Favorites

The Horizon League released its annual Under Armour #HLTF preseason poll on Wednesday with both the Youngstown State men and women predicted to finish on top of the podium once again.
The Youngstown State men received 63 points, and the majority of first-place votes with seven and were slated at the top of the league, while the Penguins women received 99 points, including nine first-place nods, to be picked first in their poll.
For the men, Milwaukee followed the eight-time defending conference champion Penguins and was slated second with 56 points, taking the other first place vote. Purdue Fort Wayne was tabbed third, while Oakland was slated fourth and Detroit Mercy, respectively round out the top five.
After YSU on the women's side, Milwaukee claimed the second spot with 90 points and one first place nod. PFW claimed the third spot with 74 points, Oakland nabbed 71 total points for fourth while Northern Kentucky was selected fifth with 57 points to close out the top five.
The Youngstown State track and field programs open their 2023-24 indoor season on Friday, hosting the YSU Icebreaker Presented by Southwoods Health at the Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS). The Horizon League Championships are set for late February in Youngstown.
