YSU Rallies in Singles to Take Down UIC

Homewood, Ill. - The Youngstown State men's tennis team picked up a 4-3 win over UIC on Saturday afternoon at the HF Racquet Club.
YSU improved to 8-8 overall and 3-0 in Horizon League contests while the Flames fall to 2-15 and 0-3.
The Penguins dropped the doubles point so had to win four singles contests to remain unbeaten in Horizon League play.
In singles, YSU earned straight set wins at No. 1, No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 singles. UIC won matches at No. 3 and No. 6 in straight sets.
At No. 1 singles, Laurentiu Mandocescu won 6-4, 6-4 improving to 3-0 in HL matches. At No. 2, Clement Mainguy moved up and earned a 7-5, 3-6 victory. At No. 4, David Alvarez Moreno claimed a 6-1, 6-1 win and at No. 5, Will Everett cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win.
YSU concludes the weekend with a match at IUPUI on Sunday. First serve against the Jaguars is set for 2:30 p.m.
