Notes from the 2021-22 YSU Women's Swimming & Diving Campaign
Season Highlights
- YSU had 23 top 16 finishes at the 2022 Horizon League Championships
- In the 1650 freestyle, Brooke Schuette finished sixth and Jael Dankle finished seventh giving the Penguins a pair of top-eight finishes
- Oliwia Kaniak finished eighth in the 200 breast with a time of 2:22.06. Schuette also finished eighth in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:53.37.
- Diver Tess Weiskopf finished eighth with a final round score of 229.40 in the three-meter dive. It was the sixth time in her career that she finished in the top eight or better at the HL meet. She was ninth in the one-meter event.
- Kayla Wrasman placed a career-best seventh in the one-meter dive with a finals score of 248.35. She placed ninth in the three-meter event.
- Wrasman advanced to the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships for the first time in her career competing in the one-meter event.
- YSU was named a College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-American team during the fall semester.
- Posted seven swimming and diving times that rank in the top five in school history.
- The Guins defeated Cleveland State 167-121 early in the season. Against the Vikings, Olivia Wilcox and Mallory Pitstick each won a pair of events for the Penguins while Hailey Clark picked up her first career event victory. YSU swept the diving events at Tess Weiskopf won the three-meter event while Kayla Wrasman won the one-meter dive.
- YSU defeated Valparaiso by a score of 223-69. Winning events for the women were Kayla Wrasman (3m diving), Dasha Toth (1m diving), Hailey Clark (500 free/1000 free), Olivia Wilcox (100 back), Natalia Moreno (200 fly) and Aubrey Whitaker (200 free).
- The Penguins also earned a 174-122 win over Gannon. YSU won nine events in the meet vs. the Golden Knights.
