Annapolis, Md. – Youngstown State shot nearly 70 percent and outscored UC San Diego, 41-17, in the second half en route to a 73-54 victory on Saturday evening at Alumni Hall at the U.S. Naval Academy.

Four players reached double figures led by senior Dwayne Cohill's 18 points and senior Bryce McBride had 16 points.
Graduate student Malek Green had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds and Adrian Nelson had a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards.
Trailing 37-32 at the intermission, Youngstown State, which connected on 69.6 percent from the floor in the second half, opened the second half on a 13-0 run and made 10 of its first 11 shots, including nine straight, to take a 45-37 lead at the 17:21 mark. Senior Garrett Covington sparked the run with a pair of 3-pointers.
A layup and three-point play by Cohill pushed the Penguins lead to 11 and a layup by Nelson gave YSU a 54-41 lead with 14 minutes left.
Youngstown State led by as many as 20, 71-51, after a basket by Jacori Owens with 1:12 remaining.
In the first half, Youngstown State made four of its first five shots to jump out to a 9-2 lead within the game's first three minutes.
The Tritons climbed back and tied the game at 22-22 before the Penguins scored eight of the next 10 points to take a 30-24 lead.
UC San Diego scored the next 13 points to take a 37-30 lead before the Penguins trimmed to deficit to 37-32 at halftime.
