Youngstown, Ohio -- Four players reached double figures and all 14 players got in the scoring column as the Youngstown State men's basketball team defeated Grace Christian, 96-68, on Tuesday morning at Beeghly Center.
The Penguins improve to 3-1 overall while the Tigers fall to 2-3.
Adrian Nelson and Brandon Rush led the Penguins with 14 points each while Myles Hunter scored 12 and Bryce McBride added 10 points.
The Penguins, who shot at least 50 percent from the floor for the fourth straight game, connected on 55.4 percent (31-of-51) from the field and made nine 3-pointers.
Youngstown State record season-highs with 21 assists and 11 steals against the Tigers.
The Penguins led for 38:35 while the Tigers led for just 33 seconds.
Grace Christian led 5-4 with 18:45 left but a 16-7 run over the next eight minutes boosted the Penguins lead to 10, 22-12, at the 10:37 mark.
A jumper by Hunter with 3:03 left in the half pushed the YSU lead to 43-23, and the Penguins led by 17, 48-31, at the intermission.
In the second half, the Penguins made nine of their first 11 field-goal attempts and extended their lead to 33, 73-40, after a 3-pointer by Hunter with 10:47 remaining.
The Penguins led by as many as 35, 75-40, with 9:54 left.
Youngstown State faces UC-San Diego, Saturday, Nov. 19. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. in Annapolis, Md.
