YSU Concludes Sweep of Milwaukee; Triumphs 6-1 Sunday

The Youngstown State women's tennis team picked up a 6-1 win over Milwaukee on Sunday at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center. The Penguins beat the Panthers for the second straight day.
YSU (9-7, 2-0 Horizon League) defeated the Panthers 4-3 on Saturday and were dominated on Sunday in the 6-1 victory.
The Penguins won the first two completed doubles contest to earn the doubles point. At No. 3, Jessica Stanmore and Claudia Barboza picked up a 6-2 victory while Tamara Teufl and Eliska Masarikova won 6-4 at No. 2. The Panthers won the doubles point from YSU on Saturday.
YSU won five of the six singles matches in straight sets. At No. 2, Cecilia Rosas defeated Mayya Perova by scores of 6-1, 6-3. In action at No. 3, Lucia Zagar earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over Iva Stejskalova. At No. 4, Elvira Esteo won her match, 6-4, 6-2 over Nikki Milner. Masarikova defeated Anna Daniel Fuentes, 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5 while Stanmore beat Lucy Harper, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6. At No. 1, Teufl dropped a tough 7-5, 6-3, 10-6 decision to Greta Carbone.
Winning twice over the weekend for YSU in singles play were Esteo, Stanmore, Masarikova and Rosas.
The Penguins continue Horizon League play next weekend when they play host to Cleveland State. Both matches are set for 2 p.m. at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
