Penguins Cruise to 7-0 Victory Over Ashland

The Youngstown State men's tennis team picked up a 7-0 victory over Ashland on Saturday afternoon at the YSU Indoor Tennis Center.
The Penguins (6-5) won all three doubles contests and took five of six singles in straight sets against the Eagles (3-1).
In doubles play, Joao Garretto and David Alvarez Moreno earned a 6-1 win No. 2, Asier Ibanez and Laurentiu Mandocescu earned a 6-2 win at No. 3 while Vasilis Vardakis and Erik Gran won 7-5 a No. 1.
In singles action, Vardakis won 6-2, 6-4 over Stuart Brdicka at No. 1. At No. 2, Mandocescu won 6-3, 6-3 against Priyank Soni. Joao Garretto picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win over Jordan Phelps at No. 3. At No. 4, Moreno beat Jacob Hoffman, 6-1, 6-0. In action at No. 5, Ibanez earned a 6-3, 6-2 win over Omar Prince. At No. 6, Baher El Mekawi rallied for a 2-6, 6-3, 10-7 win against Tche Kun Teng.
YSU is back in action on Sunday when it travels to Pittsburgh to take on Duquese. First serve at the Alpha Tennis and Fitness Center of Pittsburgh is set for 1:30 p.m.
