YSU Has Strong Performance in 7-0 Win Over LaSalle

The Youngstown State men's tennis team picked up an impressive 7-0 win over LaSalle on Thursday at the Avalon Lakes Racquet Club in Boardman.
The Penguins (6-8) were playing their final non-Horizon League match of regular season against the Explorers. With the loss, LaSalle falls to 2-9.
YSU was efficient in winning the doubles point earning 6-4, 6-2 and 6-0 victories. At No. 1, Joao Garretto and Vasilis Vardakis picked up a 6-4 victory. In play at No. 2, Yossi Dahan and Danylo Veremeichuk earned a 6-2 victory. At No. 3, Matthew Kritzinger and Thomas De Negri earned a 6-0 victory.
In singles play, YSU won four of six matches in straight sets.
Winning in three sets were Dahan and Veremeichuk. At No. 1, Veremeichuk picked up a 6-3, 6-7, 10-6 win over Francesco Mowrey while Dahan earned a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 triumph against Thomas Christian at No. 4.
Winning at No. 2 was Garretto by a score of 7-6, 6-3 over Connor Merrill. At No. 3, Vardakis beat Rogelio Gonzalez 6-3, 7-6. At No. 5 Alonso Lauz won 6-2, 6-0 over Patrick Pascaul and at No. 6, Colin Lucius won 6-2, 6-4.
YSU opens Horizon League play on Sunday, March 25 when the play host to Green Bay.
