Strong Singles Play Lifts Penguins Past Bucknell

Boardman - The Youngstown State men's tennis team won all six singles matches to earn a 6-1 victory over Bucknell on Saturday at the Boardman Tennis Center.
The Penguins, who won two of three dual matches the past two days, improved to 3-6 on the season with the win on Friday.
Bucknell won the doubles point, but a strong singles peformance from top-to-bottom helped YSU earn the dual victory.
At No. 1, Joao Garretto earned a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Dan Wright. At No. 2, Danylo Veremeichuk defeated Andrei Vitiuc 6-4, 6-3. Vasilis Vardakis was victorious over Max Kane at No. 3 by a score of 6-4, 6-3. At No. 4, Bassem El Mekawi won 6-1, 7-5 against Maxwell McDonald. At No. 5, Matthew Kritzinger beat Ben Gerber 6-0, 6-4 while Yossi Dahan won 6-4, 6-0 over Colin Sacco at No. 6.
YSU is next in action on Friday when it plays at Saint Francis (Pa.).
