
Morris Places Third; Penguins Fifth at Navy Spring Invitational

Annapolis, Md. - The Youngstown State women's golf team finished fifth in its first appearance at the Navy Spring Invitational which was held on Saturday and Sunday at the Naval Academy Golf Club. Reva Morris led the way for the Penguins finishing a strong third.
The Penguins had a two-day total of 650 with rounds of 328 and 322. Winning the event was Harvard who carded a 620 while Lehigh was second with a 639.
Morris had a two-round total of 153 and was one shot out of first place. Morris had a 76 on Saturday and finished with a 77 on Sunday. Winning the event were Harvard's Anna Zhou and Michelle Xie who had 152's.
Kaitlyn Shutt used an impressive second round to finish 12th with a 161. Shutt had an opening round 83 and was tied for 24th before firing a 78 today.
Senior Mia Barchetti finished 27th with a two-round total of 166. Barchetti had rounds of 82 and 84 for the tournament. Junior Courtney Shutt was 38th with a 172. Shutt had a six-shot improvement from a first-round 89 to a second-round 83. Megan Creager had a 173 (88-85) to finish 40th and Christian Cooper carded a 176 (87-89) to place 48th.
The Penguins are next in action on April 14 when they take on Cleveland State and Bowling Green at Pine Hills Golf Course.
