
Morris Finishes Eighth at EKU Colonel Classic; Penguins Place Seventh

Richmond, Ky. - Freshman Reva Morris finished eighth to lead the Youngstown State women's golf team to a seventh-place finish at the EKU Colonel Classic which concluded on Saturday at the University Club at Arlington.
Morris had a three-round total of 227 posting rounds of 78, 71 and 78. Her second-round 71 on Saturday was the career-low round for the freshman. She was tied for third-place following the first 36 holes. Winning the event was Ball State's Sydney Anderson who had a 220.
YSU finished with a team score of 943 with scores of 329 and 302 on Friday and 312 on Saturday. the second-round 302 was the fifth-lowest for the entire tournament. Ball State won with a three-round total of 900 while Ohio was second and Eastern Kentucky was third.
Morris had seven birdies in the tournament, including four during her one-under par round of 71. It was the sixth time Morris was the top finisher for the Penguins this year.
Freshman Katlyn Shutt finished 19th with a three-round total of 233. Shutt had rounds of 82, 76 and 75 which including a one-under par 35 on her front nine on Saturday.
Junior Courtney Shutt finished tied for 37th with a 239 (83-76-80), senior Mia Barchetti was 57th carding a 246 (86-81-79) and Christina Copper was 63rd scoring a 249.
The Penguins are next in action on April 8-9 at the Navy Spring Invitational in Annapolis, Md.
