YSU Finishes Second at NKU Fall Classic With School-Record 54-Hole Total

Batavia, Ohio - The Youngstown State women's golf team set a school record for a 54-hole tournament placing second at the NKU Fall Classic which concluded on Tuesday. YSU carded an impressive three-round total of 913 at the event.
YSU improved all three rounds during the event. On Monday, the Guins opened with a 310 before firing a second round 305. YSU ended the tournament with a 298 on Tuesday, the second-lowest final round score. Marshall won the event with an 898.
The previous low 54-hole score in school history was 926 set at the 2015 Horizon League Golf Championships.
For the second straight tournament, freshman Reva Morris led the way with a three-round of 222 carding rounds of 76, 73 and 73. She finished two shots back of medalist Sarah Thompson of Detroit who had a 220.
Junior Courtney Shutt made a move on the final day moving up eight spots to finish 13th with a 232. Shutt had rounds of 78 and 80 on Monday before a final round 74.
Senior Mia Barchetti had a strong tournament also finishing 13th with a 232. Barchetti had rounds of 77, 77 and 78 for the event.
Sophomore Megan Creager had a strong final two rounds with scores of 75 and 76 after an opening round 83 to fire a 234 and place 18th. Freshman Katlyn Shutt also moved up eight places on the final day to finish 22nd with a 237 (79-83-75).
Haleigh Guerrero had a career-best round of 76 on Tuesday en route to a 44th-place finish.
The Penguins are next in action on Sept. 26-27 when they compete at the Oakland Golden Grizzly Invitational.
