Guins Best Milwaukee 6-1; Remain in HL Title Hunt

The Youngstown State women's tennis team defeated Milwaukee 6-1 on a sunny Sunday afternoon at the YSU Tennis Courts. The Penguins improved to 6-1 in Horizon League play and remained in the hunt to repeat as Horizon League champions.
The Penguins improved to 8-11 overall and 6-1 in the Horizon League. Milwaukee drops to 10-9, 4-3. The Panthers helped the Guins over the weekend by defeating Cleveland State on Saturday.
With one weekend remaining, UIC, Cleveland State and YSU are all 6-1 in league play. UIC plays both the Penguins and the Vikings to close out the campaign.
YSU won the doubles point and five of the six singles matches.
At No. 1 doubles, Nehel Sahni and Noelly Nsimba won 6-3 while at No. 2, Dominika Lackova and Sofia Macias also won 6-3.
In singles play, Lackova, Annina Brendel, Nsimba, Nehel Sahni and Ana Stroe all picked up wins.
At No. 1, Lackova beat Labina Petrovska 6-0, 6-4. At No. 2, Brendel won 6-4, 6-1 over Hayley Marshall. Nsimba defeated Laurie Clark 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3. Sahni won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 5 over Dana Shannon and Stroe rallied for a 3-6, 6-3, 10-5 win against Aerielle Pendleton.
The Penguins are back in action on Saturday when they visit Valparaiso.
