
2015-16 YSU Swimming and Diving Season Recap

The Youngstown State swimming and diving team posted eight top-five individual finishes at the Horizon League Championships, set five individual school swimming event records and a pair in the relays during the 2015-16 campaign.
Setting school records in 2015-16 were Viktoria Orosz, Madison Aranda and Hannah Reynolds. Impressively, six different Penguins had a top-five finish at the Horizon League Championships. YSU's eight top-five placings at the league meet tied the school mark, which was set last year.
Season Highlights
- YSU defeated Cleveland State, St. Bonaventure and Niagara in dual meets.
- Orosz placed second in the 200-yard freestyle, third in the 500-yard freestyle and third in the 200-yard backstroke at the Horizon League Championships.
- Aranda placed fifth in the 200-yard butterfly, was sixth in the 1,650-yard freestyle and placed seventh in the 500-yard freestyle.
- Three divers earned top-five finishes at the HL meet. In the one-meter, McKenzie Stelter was third and Lydia Scheringer was fifth. In the three-meter, Bec Stafford placed third.
- Freshman Zsani Csado was fourth in the 200-yard butterfly.
- For the second straight year YSU had 13 top eight finishes at the HL meet, which tied a school record.
- At the Zone C Diving Championships, Stafford was a career-best 28th in both the one and three-meter dives.
- The Penguins set five individual school records during the year. The records came in the 200-yard freestyle (Orosz), 500-yard freestyle (Orosz), 200-yard butterfly (Aranda), 100 breaststroke (Reynolds) and 400 IM (Aranda).
- YSU also set new school standards in the 400-yard freestyle relay and the 800-yard freestyle relay. The record in the 800 relay was broken by nine seconds.
- Posted 10 swimming times that rank in the top five in school history.
- During the year, Aranda won 15 events in dual meets.
