
Penguins Have Strong Final Round at Northern Intercollegiate

Chicago, Ill. - The Youngstown State men's golf team posted its best round of the Northern Intercollegiate on Monday at the Beverly Country Club.
YSU carded a 302 on Monday, tying for the fifth-lowest round of the day. The strong performance gave the Penguins a three-round total of 938 for the event. The Penguins were in eighth place following an opening round 313, but fell to 12th after carding a second-round score of 323.
Winning the event was 2016 NCAA semifinalist Illinois which carded an 845. The Illini finished 53 shots ahead of second-place finisher Indiana while Marquette was third and Drake fourth.
Leading the way for YSU was Jason McQuown who was 44th with a three-round 235 (77-82-76). Finishing one shot back in 48th place 236's were Justin Hallapy (77-82-78) and Steven Sveda (81-81-74). Dominic Carano finished 55th with a 238 (76-86-76), Thomas Lydic was 59th firing a 239 (82-81-76) and Evan Standohar placed 62nd with a 244 (83-80-81).
The Penguins conclude the fall portion of their season on Oct. 17-18 at the Dayton Fall Invitational.
