Penguins Close Out Home Season Against Akron

The Youngstown State swimming and diving team plays host to its final meet of the season on Saturday against Akron at the Beeghly Natatorium. The Penguins will honor seniors Bec Stafford, Stefane van Niekerk and Jana Janson before the 1 p.m. meet.
The Penguins have been off from competition since November and will be returning to the pool against the Zips. Both an Akron participated at the Magnus Cup Invitational hosted by Cleveland State in late November. The Zips won the meet while YSU was sixth.
Stafford is a two-time second-place finisher at the Horizon League meet in the one-meter dive during her career. van Niekerk and Janson have been key freestyle swimmers for the program the past four years.
The meet will feature 16 events, 14 swimming and the one and three-meter diving events.
