Aranda, Divers Shine For Penguins at Magnus Cup Invitational

Cleveland, Ohio - Madison Aranda had three third-place finishes and the divers had a strong performance as the Youngstown State swimming and diving team competed at the three-day Magnus Cup Invitational hosted by Cleveland State at the Busbey Natatorium.
In the team race, the Penguins placed sixth with a 464 points. Akron won with 1,713 points Duquesne was second with 1,651 and Xavier was third with 1,022.
Aranda placed third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:59.20, was third in the 200 butterfly at 2:04.00 and came in third in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:17.04. She was also eighth in the 400 IM at 4:31.20.
Hannah Reynolds had a strong meet in the breaststroke events. Reynolds was fourth in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 29.70 seconds and placed ninth in the 100 breast with a time of 1:06.21.
YSU had four of the top-eight finishers in the one-meter dive and two of the top four in the three-meter event.
In the one-meter, Bec Stafford was fourth with a score of 252.30, McKenzie Stelter was fifth with a 246.85, Lydia Scheringer was seventh scoring a 230.50 and Bailey Dipman placed eighth at 229.05.
In the three-meter dive, Megan Siford was third with 235.05, Scheringer was fourth with a 232.05 and Bethany Glick was eighth with a 214.90.
The 800 yard freestyle relay team of Zsani Csado, Kirstin Jonsdottir, Viktoria Orosz and Aranda placed fifth with a time of 7:39.73.
The Penguins are next in action on Jan. 16 when they take on Akron at the Beeghly Natatorium.
