Penguins Open Dual Slate With Home Meet Against Niagara

The Youngstown State swimming and diving team opens dual meet competition for the 2014-15 slate against Niagara on Saturday morning at the Beeghly Center Natatorium. The dual against the Purple Eagles is set to begin at 11 a.m.

The meet will feature 16 events, 14 swimming and both the one and three-meter dives. The relays for the dual are the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay.
YSU was first in action this fall at the Tom Stubbs Relays. The Penguins had some fast times to open the year and will be looking to build on that strong performance.
Making their dual meet debuts will be Madison Aranda, Kolbrun Jonsdottir, Viktoria Orosz and Rachel Shipp. The Guins have three seniors in Ashley Dow, a three-time Horizon League champion, Chelsea Malone and Casey Cullen.
The divers include Bailey Dipman, Bethany Glick, Lydia Scheringer, Megan Siford, Bec Stafford and McKenzie Stelter.
Last year the Penguins earned a 191-100 over the Purple Eagles at Niagara. In 2012, the Guins defeated the Niagara 196-104 at the Beeghly Natatorium.
